In Resolve, Will Ertel has provided young people with an eminently practical guide to the management of finances that is grounded in biblical principles of stewardship and peppered with appreciable wit. Will's style is straightforward and accessible, making sound approaches to the handling of personal finances easily understandable to the lay reader. This is a book I want my own children and all the students I serve to read.
Will writes with brevity, clarity and conviction on matters that twentysomethings need to be thinking about, especially with regard to how to view money matters through a biblical worldview, and how to implement specific strategies that resolve to honor God with our finances. Anyone will benefit from the godly principles in this book, but especially those in their twenties.
Will’s financial expertise and pastoral heart were united all throughout the work. He gives biblical, understandable, and applicable advice on wise resource stewardship—I was happy to have many of our own family practices confirmed as well as adjusted by Will’s advice. As a good friend to those who want to do better management, Will’s exhortations don’t judge or demean but gently instruct on when and how to save, spend, and invest. I would highly recommend this book for parents to review and to share with their adult children.
Will Ertel offers biblically based financial wisdom from the perspective of a father of young adults who is an experienced financial planner. Many are intimidated by money matters and believe that money experts speak a foreign language. Will makes important concepts understandable through clear explanation, practical examples, and helpful illustrations. While this book would benefit people of all ages, I expect that it will become my go to book for pre-marriage counseling and helping young adults to mature in their understanding of financial wisdom.
My wife and I have raised three children, now all married and, in their thirties, and I have spent the past 13 years working with students at Liberty University. This book is everything I want my children and students to know and do when it comes to their personal finances. Resolve approaches this subject with a Biblical Worldview and is perfect for the individual or couple who desire to integrate their faith into the decisions they make about finances. Will does a perfect job of walking a young person(s) through the various financial decisions that need to be made while in school and certainly during the first ten years after graduation. His personal stories and examples are great fun. I know from personal experience that the decisions we make in our twenties will impact us in a significant way for the rest of our lives. This should be required reading for every Christian young person from age 18 to 30.
Stewardship is something of inestimable value entrusted by the King for kingdom purposes. Resolve is the embodiment of this kind of sound stewardship. Will Ertel's financial wisdom entrusted to his readers is a valuable tool.
This helpful book on financial planning is built on the foundations of biblical stewardship, emphasizing key biblical imperatives such as generosity, tithing, contentment and living in light of eternity. Will Ertel has given us a helpful guide to wise stewardship of what God has given to us, including both principles and practical ways to invest. It is well-written, accessible (even for the non-financially astute—like me!), and full of helpful illustrations. I plan to give a copy to my children and recommend it to the young adults in my church.
As a father, marriage and couples coach, and former pastor - I am thrilled to recommend the rich resource of Resolve. Will’s intentionality to address with wisdom, experience, and excellence the topic of financial stewardship is a breath of fresh air to a generation that needs to rekindle the embers of financial understanding. I am excited to see this topic and this book address the self-sacrifice, discipline, and hard work God requires for us to truly live a life of freedom, purpose, and intentionality. I know many will benefit from this resource - I can’t wait to see this tool encourage, inspire, and challenge the next generation to be intentional in the important arena of finances. The design of generosity and financial integrity is a hallmark of our love, a characteristic our world is eager to see lived with the purpose to inspire and impact a watching world.
This book happens to be one of the best financial planning books I have ever read, coupled with the fact that it is aligned with biblical teachings on finances. There wasn’t any room for confusion while reading, which is because this book was written in very simple and understandable language. . .
This book was written from a Christian perspective and it delivered on this. A lot of people make mistakes with their finances, and from the wealth of information given, this book would be helpful to many, and appropriate for everyone regardless of their faith backgrounds.
Resolve by Will Ertel shares basic ideas for planning expenses and highlights the importance of following the teachings of the Bible. Ertel describes the need to seek both the good for oneself and others and explains concepts such as donations, creating an action plan, saving and investing, and other ideas. Among his tips, he highlights the need to be diligent in our goals and learn to identify economic opportunities to enjoy a stable life. . . .
The information is practical, and Ertel speaks from experience and provides useful information and personal examples that everyone will find easy to understand. Resolve is an excellent financial planning guide.
